Traffic Engineering provides for the safe and efficient movement of vehicular and pedestrian traffic. Crossman Engineering has been practicing traffic engineering since 1984 and has extensive experience preparing trip generation and designing traffic impact studies and traffic signal systems. It is our goal to provide sound engineering judgment which allow for a safe and efficient transportation network for the movement of people and goods. We take pride in developing innovative solutions to complex problems.

Crossman Engineering’s offers experience in various traffic engineering tasks, including:

  • Traffic Volume Data Collection
  • Highway Capacity Analyses
  • Intersection Capacity Analyses
  • Accident Analysis
  • Speed Studies
  • Travel Time Studies
  • Origin/Destination Studies
  • Design of Safe Work Zones
  • Sight Distance Determination
  • Trip Generation Analysis
  • Queue Analysis
  • Traffic Simulation Modeling
  • Traffic Signal Optimization
  • Traffic Calming Implementation

Crossman Engineering has also designed coordinated systems for a series of consecutive signalized intersections and modern round-a-bouts which are commonly being utilized as an alternative to signalized intersections.

The preparation of trip generation and traffic impact studies is also an integral part of Crossman Engineering’s Traffic Division activities. All major land development projects require traffic impact studies to determine the potential impacts on the adjacent roadways and neighborhoods. We have prepared studies for a multitude of different uses including office and industrial parks, shopping centers, condominium complexes, residential subdivisions, golf courses, pharmacies and fast-food restaurants.

Crossman Engineering’s staff is recognized throughout the region as traffic experts and has presented testimony before numerous Planning Boards, Zoning Commissions and Town/City Councils.

Traffic engineering also includes related transportation design categories of which Crossman Engineering is fully knowledgeable. These categories include:

  • Arterial Operations
  • Accident Reduction Countermeasures
  • Cost/Benefit Analysis
  • Traffic Calming
  • Pavement Markings
  • Signing and Guide/Destination Signage

Our traffic division is capable of handling any sized project ranging from mitigation of land use alterations to analyzing Interstate Systems.
